Information About Our Area | Photos Of The Area | Web Special | Contact Us | Where Is Golden Valley?
Golden Valley is located between the Black Mountains and the Cerbats in northwest Arizona. It is bisected east to west by state highway 68, which is the only northern link to Laughlin, Nevada, from I-40. Route 93, which runs from Mexico to Canada to the east of us is recently undergone a multi-million dollar highway project at the 68/93 intersection and 93 is a divided highway all the way to Las Vegas, Nevada (see our tri-state area map for mileage references). Generally speaking, the altitude here is about 2,700 feet and the temperature ranges from highs of about 105 in the summer to lows in the winter that will put about a quarter inch of ice on the dog water, if it's left out in the open. There is a year round breeze that keeps us company all the time--it''s nice in the summer and assures a frost in the winter. Golden Valley Business Directory Please Note:
WATER GVID #1:The Golden Valley Improvement District #1 (GVID #1) was formed by the residents in the area in the late seventies to provide a vehicle to develope water over the 31 square miles of privately owned land in the area. While those running the district in the early years worked hard and gave much time and effort, the district really didn't start sinking wells and running water lines for almost 10 years. Today there are about 600 water meters serving residents in the area with the ever expanding grid offering the opportunity for many more to hook up. Because improvement districts are maintained and services constructed are financed by assessments and the potential for taxation, current status of these assessments at a time of sale is a consideration for both buyer and seller. There are approximately 3,500 residents in this area. This is the Area Map of GVID #1. ![]()
VPWC inc:Valley Pioneers Water Company Inc. (VPWC inc.) was formed by Sacramento Valley Pioneers, a now dormant home owners organization, in the early sixties and is a non-profit, privately-owned (by the meter holder property owners) water company. Currently this company serves approximately 1,500 meters spread over about 70 miles of water lines in the 24 square mile service area. This company has no taxation or assessment authority, although the Rancho Verde Estates subdivision within the VPWC service area has a road-improvement- only district that is subject to assessments on some of its properties. There are approximately 4,200 residents in this area. This is the Area Map of the Valley Pioneers Water Company service area. ![]()
AQUIFER:Both of these service areas get water from the same aquifer, which has a static level of about 1050 feet below the surface. The area has 100 year status on water availability. Geologists claim the aquifer is an underground lake that's fed by an underground river coming from under the Cerbat Mountains, on the east edge of the valley.
